“I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity and humbled by the task, which is to open a new chapter for the station. It’s no longer the hypnotic pulse of the city at night – it’s the ever-evolving optimism of weekday mornings. My show has always reflected the continual evolution of music and emerging artists. And while I built my foundation as a champion of dance and electronic music, this is a great opportunity for me to grow, a challenge I will take very seriously.“ – Jason Bentley
2020Soundsystem announces part one of their USA tour. The tour will start in the mid west and head over east. The tour plans to come back to the west coast in March for part two, SXSW and Miami. The tour is called “Thank F*ck For That Tour” and is dedicated to change in America.
Created to showcase alternative versions of previously released tracks, experiments in sound, and introductions to new artists and collaborators, this fresh platform will initially be exclusively available on Beatport. CDR launches with two future remixes of Jamie Jones’ “Panic” track. The siren-loaded original has been re-worked by Hackney-based scientist Bass Clef to form a menacing dubstep take on the track.
Future releases on CDR will provide more of the unexpected and will continue the forward-thinking qualities that the world has come to expect from the Rebels.
DVD Featuring MADLIB, CUT CHEMIST, WILL.I.AM, THES ONE And More
In 2001 in a Los Angeles club, The Root Down put on their first of a three part series called “Sound Clash.” It featured Madlib and Cut Chemist going head to head, beat for beat for respect in front of a packed club. Each of the tracks had never been released. Each of the three rounds saw the excitement rise. The last round unleashed a partisan celebration from the captivated crowd. It was a beautiful underground hip hop moment.
Mochilla founders, Coleman and B+, went to the first round with their Sony PC100 single chip prosumer cameras with intentions of trying out their, then, new toys. “It wasn’t until afterwards that we put both cameras on the floor, rewound the tapes and played them in sync that we realized we might have something.”
